Private RV sites: California & the Pacific

California's farm valleys and foothills, Alaska's homestead road system, and Hawaii's small farms. California hosts are often orchards, vineyard neighbors, and ranchettes in the Sierra foothills; Alaska sites are homesteads along the highways; Hawaii sites are small and special.

Typical hookups

California sites commonly have 30/50-amp and water. Alaska hosts are often off-grid or generator-based — which is part of the point. Hawaii sites are few, small, and usually electric plus water.

Rig size notes

California valley sites take 40 feet; foothill and coastal roads need route checks. Alaska favors self-contained rigs on the road system. Hawaii: small rigs and camper vans only.

Good to know

California fire season and county short-stay rules vary — hosts here know theirs; ask. Alaska's season is May through September, full stop.
