Private RV sites: Heartland & Great Plains

The middle of the map: Iowa and Missouri farm country, the Dakotas' open prairie, Nebraska and Kansas wheat-and-cattle land. A private site here is a gravel lane by the machine shed or a pad at the field's edge — simple, level, and the quietest sleep in America.

$25–45 / night · typical host rates Electric typical Fits rigs up to 45 ft

Typical hookups

Electric at the barn (30-amp common, some 50-amp) and water from a hydrant are typical. Many hosts are already set up for harvest crews and visiting family RVs. Sewer is rare.

Rig size notes

The easiest big-rig country in America: straight roads, huge lanes, room to turn anything. 45 feet and up is normal.

Good to know

Wind is a constant — park nose-into-it and secure the awning. Summer storms build fast on the plains; hosts know their weather, so ask. Winter is genuinely cold; many hosts close November through March.
