Private RV sites: Mid-Atlantic & Appalachia

From New York's Southern Tier and Pennsylvania farm country down the Shenandoah Valley into West Virginia's ridges — this is the East's working-land belt. Hosts are dairy farms, orchards, and ridge-top homesteads an easy drive off the big interstates.

$35–65 / night · typical host rates Electric + water typical Fits rigs up to 40 ft

Typical hookups

30-amp electric and water are common at farmsteads; homesteads deeper in the hollows may be electric-only or dry. Cell signal drops in the valleys — ridges are better.

Rig size notes

Most farm lanes handle 40 feet. Mountain grades and switchbacks in Virginia and West Virginia are the constraint — confirm your route in with the host, not just the pad.

Good to know

Appalachian hollows hold cold air and fog; in winter, north-facing lanes stay icy. Come fall, this is some of the best foliage driving in the country.
