Private RV sites in The Southwest

Private RV sites: The Southwest

Arizona and New Mexico private land: desert homesteads under big sunsets, piñon-juniper clearings in the high desert, and farm plots in the Rio Grande valley. Winter here is the West's snowbird season without the resort crowds.

Typical hookups

Water is precious and hosts will say so: many sites offer electric and a water fill rather than a full-time water hookup; sewer is rare. Solar performs beautifully here, and a shade structure beats tree shade, which is scarce.

Rig size notes

Open desert takes long rigs; the constraint is soft sand or arroyo crossings after rain. A high-clearance tow vehicle helps on the last mile.

Good to know

Elevation decides everything: the Phoenix basin is winter-warm and summer-brutal, while Santa Fe and Flagstaff country at around 7,000 feet is the summer escape — and freezes in winter.

Own land here?

If you have a flat spot, a barn with power, or acreage near The Southwest, you could be earning from a rig or two parked on it — without running a campground.
